Zip It

My Makayla is not a talker. No, I'm not saying anything is wrong with her vocabulary, she just chooses when she will talk and more often than not, it is not very often. She understands everything you tell her and when she thinks you are not looking, you can catch her talking. At first (and still sometimes) it was very frustrating. Especially when Reilly was putting together sentences and paragraphs before she was even 1. Then I realized, with Reilly around none of us really get to talk very much. We are also constantly trying to reign in Reilly because she never stops talking. The first time she had to move her clip at school was because of talking so it is not just my imagination. She even talks in her sleep. You get the picture. So, it is no wonder that my little Maymay bug doesn't feel the need to talk. Tonight the girls and I were eating (Daniel was still at work). I couldn't get Reilly to eat because she wouldn't stop talking. And I mean complete nonsensical talking. Makayla and I finished eating, but Reilly was still talking with a plate over half full. I turned to Reilly and said “Reilly, you are going to have to zip it and finish that dinner so we can have play time before bed.” As soon as I got it out of my mouth Makayla pointed at Reilly, laughed, and squealed “Zip it”. Reilly and I just busted out laughing which of course made Makayla say it over and over and over. It was just too funny the way she said it with one of her trademark looks, her cute pointy finger, and high voice. Now every time I’m trying to get Reilly to do something and she won’t stop talking you can hear Makayla (no matter where she is in the house) squeal “Zip it” before I can get a chance to say it.
